Leishmania infantum: amastigotes
  1. Geimsa stained impression smear demonstrating round to oval amastigotes of Leishmania infantumin the spleen.

     

  2. They are much smaller than the surrounding cells.
  3. Note the rod-shaped kinetoplast.
